Masterson’s Pub , located in the heart of Moonee Ponds , advertises itself as a stylish, alternative venue , but my recent visit at this establishment resulted in an experience I’d rather forget . While the bar may look welcoming at first glance , what I discovered behind its doors was shocking and unacceptable on multiple levels .

From the moment I stepped inside , it was apparent that cleanliness was not a priority at this bar . The floorboards were filthy, and a overpowering stench of decaying beverages and filthy restrooms filled the entire establishment . Emitting a scent of a mixture of human waste, old age and illness . The bar area , which should be the main attraction of any pub, was piled high with used mugs and trash that looked like it hadn’t been touched in ages . The restroom was in even worse condition — spilling over , with a snapped lever and surfaces marked in what I can only assume was fecal matter .
